Extension to the Third Phase of the Implementation of the Reform in Labor Justice Matters.

Mexico City, May 20th , 2022.

As already announced by the government, on May 18, 2022, the Decree amending the Fifth Transitory Article of the Federal Labor Law on matters dealing with labor justice, was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation.

With this, the term to start operations of the Conciliation Centers and Labor Courts dependent of the Judicial Branch of the States of Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon, Coahuila, Chihuahua, Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Michoacan, Mexico City and Yucatan was modified and extended to October 3, 2022.  This will complete all phases of the labor justice reform, so the procedure provisions in the Federal Labor Law reformed on May 1, 2019, will now be applicable throughout the Republic.

It will be of utmost importance that companies review the wording on their powers of attorney, to include the appearance before the labor competent authorities, to avoid a possible contingency in case of litigation.

The attorneys at the labor practice of Basham, Ringe y Correa, S.C. have ample experience in litigation and remain available for any question or comments.
